Harvick scores pole for Bojangles’ Southern 500

Kevin Harvick scored the pole for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 Saturday at Darlington Raceway, his fourth of the season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Harvick posted a time of 27.669 seconds in the third and final round of qualifying for his second career pole at Darlington.

“It’s been a good start to the weekend for us,” Harvick said. “The car’s driving good and we’re able to put three laps together, so everything’s going well.”

Martin Truex Jr., last year’s winner, will start on the front row with Harvick.

Kyle Busch will start third, followed by Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray in fourth and fifth respectively.

THROUGH THE FIELD
Brad Keselowski will start sixth, Kurt Busch seventh, Joey Logano eighth, Denny Hamlin ninth and rounding out the top-10 is the highest qualifying rookie, Erik Jones.

Seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will start 18th.

In his final confirmed Cup Series start at Darlington, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 23rd.

Danica Patrick will start 33rd.
