Previewing the Camping World 500

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is headed to the desert in Southwestern Arizona. Thirty-nine drivers have entered in the Camping World 500 at Phoenix (3:30 P.M. E.T. Sunday, FOX)

Kevin Harvick leads active drivers with an average finish of second place in the last four points-paying points races at PIR. Harvick has won six of the last nine races at Phoenix and has led 506 laps, but was unable to lead a lap back in November 2016.

Kyle Busch has had an average finish of 3.3 in the last three races (missed Spring 2015 due to injury). Busch has finished inside the top five in each of those three races.

Kurt Busch enters Phoenix having already claimed victory in the 2017 Daytona 500. The 2004 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Champion has had an average finish of 5.8 and has finished in the top ten in each of the last four races.

Joey Logano, rolling off a victory at Phoenix last Fall, has had an average finish of 7.5. He has finished inside the top ten three times in the last four races at PIR. Logano led 58 laps when the series last visited PIR.

At time of publication, according to, the forecast for Avondale, Arizona will be sunny for all three days of on-track activity.

The high temperatures Friday through Sunday are forecasted to be in the mid 90s with lows in the low 60s, with a high of 94 on race day.
