TALLADEGA, Ala.—Joey Logano became the third driver to earn at least 100 stage points in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Sunday.

Logano earned 18 stage points between both of his runner-up finishes in the first two stages of the race, bringing his season total to 101.

“Stage points are a direct correlation to speed,” Logano said. “...Our cars are quicker, is what it says.”

Kyle Busch continues to lead the stage point standings with 116 total points. Brad Keselowski holds the second most stage points with 113.

David Ragan earned his first stage points of 2018, netting five points with his sixth-place finish in Stage 2.

Overall, 29 drivers have earned stage points in 2018.

With the exception of the Coca-Cola 600 in May, every points-paying race in 2018 is broken up into three stages.

Each of the first two stages pays out points to the top-10 finishing drivers. A first-place finish gets 10 points, second-place gets nine points, and so forth.
