Alan Bestwick

   After spending the last few seasons in the prerace crew for ESPN, Alan Bestwick is back on the color commentary booth for the final sixteen races of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, and our own Jonathan Fjeld got to talk to him

 

What inspired you to be an announcer?
Allen Bestwick: No idea. I wanted be that guy who was doing the announcing and I wanted to be that.
Did you go to any NASCAR races growing up?
Allen Bestwick: Not really, all local races until my 20s, mostly for work.
Who were your favorite drivers growing up?
Allen Bestwick: Bug Stevens, Ron Bouchard, Richard Petty
What colleges did you go to?
Allen Bestwick: None. In high school, I had a radio show. Went to college for one year at the University of Rhode Island.
What has been the most memorable race you've announced?
Allen Bestwick: The 2001 Pepsi 400.
