Justin Allgaier held off JR Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler in the OneMain Financial 200 at Dover International Speedway Saturday for his first XFINITY Series victory of 2018.

Sadler was able to get his No. 1 Chevrolet side-by-side with Allgaier’s No. 7 Chevrolet in Turn 4 of the final lap, but Algaier prevailed on the high line on the exit of the corner.

“Coming down to the end of the race, I could see Elliott in my mirror, I knew that when he would cool his tires down a little bit, that he was able to make some runs,” Allgaier said. “...I knew that he was going to make a late-race charge, with a couple to go.”

The win was Allgaier’s sixth in 250 starts in the series.

Additionally, Allgaier took home the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus. The other eligible drivers—Elliott Sadler, Brandon Jones and Ryan Sieg—finished second, 10th and 17th respectively.

Sadler, who led 33 laps Saturday, tried to do the opposite of his teammate in the closing laps.

“I was trying to figure out how to create some momentum, especially on the top side, but I wanted to do it the clean way as much as possible too,” Sadler said.

For Sadler, he remains the points leader and the only driver to place inside the top 10 in each of the first 10 races of the year. Dover produced Sadler’s second runner-up finish of 2018.

Rounding out the top five were Daniel Hemric, Christopher Bell and Tyler Reddick.

The next stop for the XFINITY Series is the Alsco 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 26.
