Ryan Blaney likes his chances of advancing to the final race of the season as a championship contender.
“I’m confident we can do it,” Blaney said to The Racing Experts. “I think our team has the ability to do it, it’s just about executing.”
Blaney is one of eight drivers in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs still in contention for the championship.
The Wood Brothers Racing driver starts the Round of 8 as the seventh-seeded driver, eight points behind Kevin Harvick for the final transfer spot into the Championship 4.
A victory in any of the three races within the round will guarantee Blaney one of the spots in the championship race.
Of the three tracks in the final round―Martinsville, Texas and Phoenix―Blaney gave his take on which track he has circled within the round to best score a win.
“We were really strong at Texas earlier in the year,” said Blaney, who led the most laps and won Stage 1 and Stage 2 in the April race.
The opening race of the Round of 8 takes place Sunday at Martinsville Speedway.
