KANSAS CITY—Ryan Blaney’s top-ten finish Sunday at Kansas Speedway marked the driver’s best career Sprint Cup finish at a non-restrictor plate venue.

Starting eighth place, Blaney led five laps en route to a seventh place run.

“Not a bad run for us,” Blaney said post-race to The Racing Experts. “We started off pretty good, we we’re running up front towards the start of the day, and we kind of lost the track position a little bit towards the middle of that race. Our car kind of went away; some of that was traffic and the other part was kind of handling.

“But (the team) did a good job of getting us back where we needed to be, at the end of the race, where it mattered.”

Blaney told Ford Performance post-race about his outlook on the rest of season, running more races in the Cup Series.

“I feel pretty good about the rest of the year,” he said. “We've learned some things. We still have to get a lot better but we're getting there. Being on the race track more is part of it. Things come with time for both me and Jeremy and we're finally getting some time under our belt.”
