Blaney tops charts in final Vegas practice

LAS VEGAS—Ryan Blaney was fastest in Saturday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series final practice session at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.


Blaney, 24, turned a fast lap of 186.445 mph around the 1.5-mile speedway located 15 miles north of downtown Las Vegas.


The 24-year old will also start on the pole in Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube.


Kyle Larson came in second, followed by Martin Truex Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Chase Elliott.


Rookie Cole Custer, who is making his Cup debut with Rick Ware Racing, finished the session in 35th.
