Bowman picks up career-best finish at Kansas

October 17, 2016

Alex Bowman’s seventh place finish in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway Sunday marked the driver’s best career finish in the Sprint Cup Series.

Bowman, who qualified fifth in his 77th career start in the series, ran as low as 36th in the race, two laps down. Contact with the wall on lap 92 forced him to pit under green flag conditions to repair damage.

Bowman worked his way back to the lead lap during the race’s fifth caution period, electing to not pit during a cycle of green flag pit stops.

Bowman ran as high as third place, eventually picking up his second top-ten finish of 2016 and his career.

Bowman’s previous career-best was a tenth place finish at Chicagoland Speedway in September.

The Tucson, Arizona native will be back behind-the-wheel of the No. 88 at Talladega Superspeedway next Sunday, in what will be his seventh start in the car this season.
