A top-ten finish was enough to increase Chris Buescher’s point lead and consecutive top-ten streak Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway.
The seventh place effort in the Furious 7 300 was Buescher’s fourth consecutive top-ten finish, the longest streak of his career. The result also marked his ninth consecutive lead lap finish.
Saturday night marked his fourth career race at Chicagoland Speedway. Starting eighth, Buescher ran as high as second place.
“It was a long night,” he said of his race. “It was a good points night when it was all said and done.”
The Roush Fenway Racing driver also commented on the handling of his car as the race progressed.

“Our Fifth Third Bank Mustang was good at the end and had good speed,” he said. “I think we used it up a little early. We didn’t have much left at the end when it was time. We made a lot of adjustments today and really tuned on it.”
With seven races left on the 2015 schedule, Buescher sits atop the standings 25 points over Ty Dillon and 27 over Chase Elliott, both of whom finished fifth and 14th respectively.
Buescher reiterated the race was good for points, but also talked about wanting to finish better.
“It was a good points day,” he said. “Not really where we want to be in the running order. We don’t want to be seventh and be happy with it but we are making progress.”
