Kyle Busch became just the second driver to eclipse 500 career stage points in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with his stage finishes at Kansas Speedway Saturday night.

Busch netted 10 stage points with his top-10 results in each of the first two stages of the KC Masterpiece 500. The 2015 series champion has earned a total of 503 stage points since the introduction of stage points and stage racing in 2017.

Martin Truex Jr. first hit the 500-point mark at Auto Club Speedway in March this year.

KANSAS

Kurt Busch earned six stage points at Kansas Speedway, bringing his 2018 total to 101.

The elder Busch brother became the fifth driver this year to earn triple-digit stage points.

Kyle Busch leaves the track as the stage points leader at 143. Brad Keselowski remains second with 138.

Rounding out the top five are Kevin Harvick (125), Joey Logano (117) and Kurt Busch (101)

OVERALL

29 drivers have earned stage points and 10 drivers have won stages in 2018.

With the exception of the Coca-Cola 600 in May (four stages), every points-paying race in 2018 is broken up into three stages.

Each of the first two stages pays out points to the top-10 finishing drivers. A first-place finish gets 10 points, second-place gets nine points, and so forth.
