RICHMOND, Va.—William Byron scored his first top-10 finish in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Richmond Raceway in the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Friday night.

Byron qualified sixth and struggled to make up any ground.

The last time the XFINITY Series went to Richmond back in May, Byron finished in 30th.

“It was pretty good, we just fought tight, we didn’t have the speed we needed on short runs and through the run really,” Byron said to The Racing Experts.

“We worked hard all night, we didn’t get as many pit stops as we wanted but overall it’s a pretty solid night. We’ll go to Chicago and kinda learn from what we were doing on mile and a halfs and hopefully get better there.”

Byron looks to carry this momentum to Chicago and try and lock in another win before the playoffs start.
