Chip Ganassi Racing sweeps opening ISM practice

AVONDALE, Ariz.—Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray topped the opening Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at ISM Raceway Friday morning for the Ticket Guardian 500.


Larson posted the fastest time of 26.034 seconds in the final minute of the 50-minute practice, beating his teammate’s time by 0.098 seconds.


Kyle Busch was the third fastest driver, followed by rookie William Byron in fourth and Chase Elliott in fifth.


Defending race winner Ryan Newman posted the 15th-fastest time at 26.333 seconds.


Rookie Darrell Wallace Jr. ran the most laps (18), posting the 25th-quickest time.


Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the only driver to not post an official lap time, as the driver hit the wall and was forced into a backup car.


The Ticket Guardian 500 will run Sunday on FOX at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
