Chevrolet is expected to announce the successor to the SS in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in August.

According to a press release, the announcement is tentatively set for August 10 at the General Motors Global Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.

Executives with the manufacturer, Team Chevy drivers and representatives from NASCAR are expected to be at the announcement.

Chevrolet has used the SS in the Cup Series since 2013, the beginning of the Generation 6 (Gen-6) in NASCAR’s premiere series.

WardsAuto reported in January the SS would not be continued past 2017.
