December 2010 TRE Fan of the Month

By Dominic Aragon Reporter

Let's meet our fan of the month.
For those of you that don't know him, Tom Joles is a weeknight anchor for KOB-TV based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joles has been in New Mexico since 1985, coming from Wisconsin.

Favorite Driver:
I would have to say Jimmie Johnson, because he is a winner.

How long have you been a NASCAR fan?:
I've never been a big NASCAR fan, but I’ve certainly followed it more closely in the last couple of years and I just like the fact that Jimmie uses his foot and his brain in a way that always put him in a good position.

How many races have you been to?:
Zero. I watch them on television.

What was your first race?:
Probably the Daytona 500 [when] Dale Earnhardt [Jr.’s] dad [won].

What do you think about Jimmie Johnson winning five in a row?:
I think that’s an incredible feat. With all of the people out there trying to drive him into the ground, that he’s been able to do it for five straight years is mind boggling to me.

My favorite part about NASCAR is:
I would say my favorite part is the fact that they are going twice as fast that I’ve ever gone and their still not crashing.
