Is Chase Elliott the driver to beat at Dover?

The story for Chase Elliott his entire Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career has been when will he get his first career win at NASCAR’s top level.

This Sunday at Dover International Speedway could very well be the place the Elliott captures that first elusive victory.

Elliott has never finished lower than fifth in his four starts at Dover. Elliott’s average finish at the one-mile facility is 3.25.

“I have been fortunate to have some good runs at Dover over the past couple of years,” Elliott said in a release. “Obviously, haven’t won a race there, but it’s been a solid track.

“Hopefully, it will continue to be solid for us and me. But there are definitely other tracks that have been more of a struggle.”

Last October’s race in Dover produced Elliott’s highest finish; a second-place result after leading 138 laps.

As previously reported by The Racing Experts, Elliott is closing in on a NASCAR record.

Elliott is second all-time in most laps led without a victory (926 laps led). Elliott is just 104 laps led from breaking the record currently held by Mike Skinner at 1,029 laps led.

Elliott looks to not break that record and capture his first career win in the MENCS this Sunday at Dover.
