RICHMOND, Va.—Making his second appearance in NASCAR’s playoffs, Chase Elliott will enter this weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway seeded 10th.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver talked to The Racing Experts about what he needs to do before the first elimination race at Dover International Speedway.
“I’d love to lock ourselves in before we get to an elimination race,” Elliott said. “That’ll be the goal so we’ll see. Like I said, anything can happen in this deal once it gets going.
“We’re just happy to be a part of it, but it’s time to lock and load and see what we got.”
Elliott opened the season with a dominant car in the Daytona 500, only to lose the lead with a few laps left. Running second at Talladega with about 20 laps to go, Elliott crashed out.
Elliott, who has yet to win in NASCAR’s premier series, finished 10th at Richmond. The result was enough for Elliott to race his way into the playoffs on points alone.
