A former NASCAR competitor is currently being held in a Florida jail for charges unclear at this time.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Rick Crawford is listed as a “federal inmate” at their jail, the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, located in Sanford, Fla.

Crawford was taken into custody on Mar. 1 by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. The department says he is not eligible for bail at this time.

Calls to SCSO were unreturned at time of publication.

Crawford competed in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series as recent as 2012. He started 336 Truck races, amassing five wins in the series.

A NASCAR official said the sanctioning body is not expected to make a statement at this time.

A criminal complaint was filed in a Florida United States District Court on Feb. 28. The document can be read in full on our news partners’ website, Kickin’ The Tires.
