ALBUQUERQUE, New Mex.—Frank Stoddard, co-owner of GO FAS Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, joins David Swope on the New Mexico Motorsports Report.
Stoddard, who has taken on the ownership role since 2011, has fielded various drivers in the Cup Series, including past champion Terry Labonte, who drove in the team’s debut in 2011 and has driven in select races since.
With Talladega being Labonte’s 890th and final scheduled Cup start, Stoddard talked a little about what the two-time champion has meant to his team.
“He’s just a unique individual,” Stoddard said of Labonte. “Honestly, probably the most fortunate thing about starting this race team that I’ve gotten out of all this in the last four years is getting to have a great relationship with him and Ken Schrader.
“Those two guys are just world class people; they’ve meant the world to my race team over the last four years, and it was so much fun to get to really know them much more on a personal level.”
