TALLADEGA, Ala.—Spencer Gallagher took the checkered flag for his first career victory in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday, leading the only lap that counted.
The driver, who runs for his family-owned GMS Racing, took the lead on the final lap of the Sparks Energy 300.
“This is a day I will remember for the rest of my life,” Gallagher said. “Today was the culmination of what we at GMS have worked for for years.”
The win was GMS Racing’s first in the series in their second full-time season.
Gallagher is the ninth different winner in the series’ opening nine races.
Elliott Sadler claimed the Dash 4 Cash prize at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday with his fifth-place finish, claiming the $100,000 bonus for a second consecutive week.
The first big-ticket item Sadler purchases, he said, will not be on himself.
“Summer time’s coming, my kids want to jet ski... it will be spent on my kids, I guarantee you,” Sadler said.
The other Dash 4 Cash eligible drivers—Christopher Bell, Matt Tifft and Austin Cindric—finished 12th, 25th and 30th respectively.
