Joey Gase’s racing plans for 2018 have not been announced, but the driver may be running for rookie-of-the-year in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, he told The Racing Experts.
“I’m going to say more likely than not,” Gase said when asked about the likelihood of running for rookie-of-the-year honors in 2018.
The 24-year-old racer did not name any teams he could possibly drive for next season.
“I’m hoping to be on the Cup side a lot more next year,” Gase said. “They’re not 100 percent set yet, but we’re working hard on them.”
This season, Gase has competed in eight Cup Series races for three teams. His best finish was 21st at Talladega in May, driving the No. 15 Premium Motorsports Chevrolet.
The Iowa native has driven full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series since 2012, making a majority of his starts for team owner Jimmy Means.
Gase will not be returning to Jimmy Means Racing in 2018.
