HAMPTON, Ga.—Kevin Harvick, often referred to as “The Closer,” finally closed the deal at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday.

The driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Ford led for 181 of the 325 laps in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at the 1.5-mile speedway.

“Just really happy to come back to Victory Lane,” Harvick said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to drive into Victory Lane here on Sunday, and honestly… I didn’t have any idea that we would even have a chance of running this race (Sunday).

“So to get the race in, it’ll make it a lot better on the guys getting out west and take some pressure off of that because it’s a pretty hectic time of travel and different things like that.”

The win was Harvick’s first of 2018 and 38th of his MENCS career. He has won at least one race in the series since 2010.

For the 45th time in his career, Kevin Harvick led the most laps among drivers in a points-paying Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.

Harvick has led the most laps among the competition at Atlanta in the last five MENCS races at the speedway.

According to research across Racing-Reference.info, Harvick sits 14th all-time on the list of drivers who have led the most laps among their competition in a race (among available data).
