Kahne, who spent much of the regular season outside of a Chase spot, guaranteed himself a Chase berth with his Atlanta win one week before the Chase grid was set.
The 34-year-old driver raced his way into the Chase for the fifth time in his career and third consecutive season.
With Kahne’s win at Atlanta, the driver ensured all of Rick Hendrick’s teams a spot in the playoffs, a feat the team has accomplished the last three seasons.
Kahne has qualified for the Chase all three years under the Hendrick Motorsports banner.
