For the first time in his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career, Jimmie Johnson did not lead the most laps in at least one points-paying event in 2017, the first time he failed do so in any of his 16 full-time seasons.

The seven-time champion led a total of 217 laps in 2017, which also accounted for the lowest total in any of his full-time seasons. The last race he led the most laps in was the Charlotte Cup Series race in October of 2016, 42 races ago.

Johnson has led the most laps in a points-paying race 71 times in his career, ranking him seventh in the category on the all-time list.
