Through Smoke & Fire; Stewart Ready For His Golden Ages of the Season

by Jonathan Fjeld

Tony Stewart has been well known to strike in the summer months of June, July, and August when he drove for Joe Gibbs in the #20 and in 2009 when he was an owner/driver. With tracks like Michigan, Sonoma, Daytona, Loudon, Indy, and the Glen being in these months and having a good record for Stewart, it only explains why he's so good in these summer months. These tracks have been shaken around with schedule changes but have stayed in these 3 months, which is good for Stewart, and bad for everyone else.

This year, Tony Stewart's team has been strong starting with Loudon. Some may say that, "Well they just got their setups right that one day, that's all.". However, with Stewart being confident and SHR finishing and starting 1-2 in the Loudon race, it's signs of a no-fluke situation. Stewart fans are probably getting that much more excited reading about this. And they should. Stewart's time is here, he's showing he's not here to waste his time. Time is valuable and with a $1,000,000 bonus on the line by winning one of the next 5 races and Atlanta, Stewart's ready to show his best.

Consider him a favorite for the Cup but if you remember last year, you would think twice. Stewart won California and was considered to be a favorite for the championship after jumping from 10th to 5th because of the race, he soon fell off. With 3 finishes worse than 20th and only 1 top 10 in the final 6 races, it proved Stewart couldn't back it up. With that said, it'll be interesting to follow Smoke through the final 17 races as he will try for his 3rd Cup championship. Best of luck to Tony Stewart and all of Stewart-Haas Racing!
