Corey LaJoie will run 25 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this season, the driver told The Racing Experts.
LaJoie will pilot the No. 72 Chevrolet for TriStar Motorsports for a majority of the schedule, with his next race in the car at Bristol next month.
“Once we get to about the Charlotte race in May, I’m in it pretty much every week,” LaJoie said. “Cole [Whitt is] going to be in it for the road courses.”
LaJoie said the team still has open races for sponsorship on the car, and opportunities to join the team are lower in cost in comparison to other Cup Series organizations.
“It’s an experience where you can’t get in any other sport,” LaJoie said. “You can’t get to hang out with the Carolina Panthers before they go out onto the field.”
2018 marks LaJoie’s second season of full-time competition in the Cup Series. In his two starts this season, the driver’s best finish was a 37th-place finish at ISM Raceway last Sunday.
