Kyle Larson has now posted two DNFs in consecutive starts for the first time since his rookie season in NASCAR’s premier series.

Larson crashed out of the First Data 500 Sunday at Martinsville Speedway on lap 303. He finished 37th.

“I just got tight up off [Turn] 2 and got into a lapper’s left-rear and I just spun really quick and hit the inside wall,” Larson said. “Another Martinsville for us. I’ve got to figure out how to get around this place. I suck here.”

Larson was eliminated from playoff contention last Sunday after dropping out of the race with engine troubles at Kansas Speedway. He finished 39th.

Larson began his career with two DNFs; two engine failures at Charlotte and Martinsville in October of 2013.

With three races left in the season, Larson unofficially ranks ninth in driver’s standings.
