HAMPTON, Ga.—Ryan Newman posted the fastest time trial Saturday in final practice for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The RCR driver ran a total of 49 laps en route to a best lap of 29.989 seconds. Newman was the only Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver to post a time under 30 seconds in the practice session.

Martin Truex Jr. finished the session in second, Paul Menard was third, Denny Hamlin was fourth, and Joey Logano, who ran the most laps (74), rounded out the top five.

The green flag for second race of the MENCS is slated to drop at 1:16 p.m. EST Sunday, after NASCAR moved the start time up due to impending weather.
