Jimmie Johnson will have the chance to win a record-breaking eighth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series title this season.

With three wins in the 2017 regular season, Johnson is making his 14th playoff appearance and 14th consecutive.

Since the adoption of a playoff system in 2004, Johnson is the only driver to qualify for the postseason every year.

“My 10 best tracks are coming up, so, I’m excited about that,” Johnson said. “I’m excited about Fall being right here right around the corner. We will just go racing. You never know.

“This format really keeps things up in the air. Last year, we were able to win in each of the three segments and get ourselves to Homestead, so hopefully we can go out there and do that again and be one of the final four.”

Johnson has won at nine of the ten tracks in the playoffs. The only track he has not won at is at Chicagoland Speedway, the playoff opener.

Johnson will start the playoffs seeded fifth with 2,017 total points.
