In his final season at Hendrick Motorsports, Kasey Kahne will be competing for his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series title.

Kahne, who won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, is making his sixth playoff appearance and first playoff appearance since 2014.

Kahne will start the postseason seeded 13th with 2,005 total points.

“Yeah, I mean it’s a big jump for us,” Kahne said. “It’s great that we won the Brickyard.

“...We raced hard (at Richmond) and the guys did a really nice job. It’s a good way to end the regular season and get ready for the final 10.”

Kahne has not won in the Cup Series at five of the tracks in the playoffs; Chicagoland Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Kansas Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Kahne’s highest finish in the playoffs is fourth-place in 2012.
