Kyle Larson will begin the charge for his first Cup Series title as the second seed heading into the 2017 playoffs.
Larson spent 11 weeks across two stints as the point leader in driver’s standings.
In the first 26 races of the season, Larson won three stages and four races (Auto Club, both Michigan races and Richmond).
“Homestead to me is by far my best racetrack,” Larson said. “I have a lot of fun there, go really fast.
“I just got to do everything, and our team has to do everything right in those first nine races to give ourselves a shot at Homestead. I think if we can get there, we would definitely have a very good shot as long as I stay cool and calm and don’t get in the wall.”
Larson is making his second playoff appearance and second consecutive. He did not advance past the first round last season, ultimately finishing ninth in points.
Larson has not won at any of the tracks in the playoffs.
