Martin Truex Jr. will begin the quest for his first championship as the number one seed.

Truex Jr., who finished as the regular season champion, will begin the playoffs with 2,053 total points.

The Furniture Row Racing driver amassed 1,646 laps led, 18 stage wins and four victories across the regular season, all series highs.

“Cars have been just lightning fast and team’s been doing a great job,” Truex Jr. said.

“We’ve got a few little things we’ve got to work on, but all in all, I feel like we’re definitely one of the strongest teams, and hopefully we can just continue to perform at our; at the level we’re capable of, and hopefully we don’t need those bonus points, but it’s going to be nice to have them, that’s for sure.”

Truex Jr. is making his fifth playoff appearance and third consecutive. His best finish in the playoffs was a fourth-place finish in driver’s standings in 2015.

Truex Jr. has not won at six of the ten track in the playoffs (New Hampshire, Talladega, Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead-Miami).
