Previewing the Federated Auto Parts 400

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will make its 26th of 36 stops this Saturday night, September 10, at Richmond International Raceway, in Richmond, Virginia.
This weekend’s race will be the final race before points are reset for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
First practice, final practice and qualifying are all scheduled for Friday.
Race coverage will be on NBCSN and MRN at 7:30 P.M. Eastern Time Saturday.
The Chase Picture
Mathematically speaking, 12 drivers have clinched a spot in the Chase entering Richmond.
Winless Ryan Newman, the first driver outside the Chase grid at 17th overall, sits 22 points behind 16th place Jamie McMurray and is the only driver outside the Chase who can still make the playoffs without having to win at Richmond.
The maximum amount of points a driver can make up in one race is 44.
Additionally, 14 winless drivers this season are still eligible to make the 2016 Chase via a win Saturday night at Richmond.
Those drivers are Kasey Kahne, Ryan Blaney, A.J. Allmendinger, Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Greg Biffle, Paul Menard, Danica Patrick, Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, Casey Mears, Landon Cassill, David Ragan and Regan Smith.
Both Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray are set to make their 500th start in the Sprint Cup Series Saturday at Richmond.
In 28 starts at Richmond, Biffle’s best finish is a third-place in the September 2005 race. Biffle has finished inside the top-ten once in the last 19 Sprint Cup races at Richmond.
Biffle must win the race to qualify for the Chase.
McMurray has made 27 starts at the track with a best finish of fourth three times. McMurray has finished inside the top-five in three of the last six races at Richmond.
McMurray holds the final spot on the Chase grid and has a 22 point cushion over Ryan Newman.
At time of publication, the weather.com forecast says there is a 0 percent chance of precipitation with a high of 97 degrees for Friday.
Saturday will be a high of 94 with a 10 percent chance of precipitation. During the night, the low will hit 74 with skies being "partly cloudy."
