FONTANA, Calif.—Reed Sorenson will be back in a Cup car driving for Jay Robinson and Premium Motorsports at some point in the next three weeks, the driver confirmed to The Racing Experts.
When asked when his next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race was, Sorenson replied, “Martinsville or Texas would be one of the two.”
Sorenson returned to the Cup Series for the first time in 2018 Sunday at Auto Club Speedway. He finished in the 34th position, seven laps down.
The Georgia-native noted how his team could benefit from more financial backing.
“We’re underdogs in this deal and just like today, we were unable to buy tires all weekend, weren't able to practice because it cost money,” Sorenson said.
“Not being able to practice definitely hurts a little bit because we can’t adjust on our car and figure out what we have so you just have to guess and hope you’re okay in the race.
“It doesn’t take as much money to help a small team out as it does to sponsor one of these big teams so a dollar goes a long way with a small team.”
Sorenson competed in 28 Cup Series races in each of the last two seasons, all for Premium Motorsports. He last ran every race in a MENCS season in 2014.
The 32-year-old driver has five top-five finishes in 292 starts in the Cup series.
Sorenson has four NASCAR XFINITY victories, most recently in 2011.
