Trevor Bayne is one of 17 drivers outside the playoff cutline who can still make the postseason with a win at Richmond Saturday night,

In Bayne’s five races at Richmond Raceway, he’s had three top-20 finishes and a race high 13th-place finish in April earlier this year.

Bayne has finished inside the in the top-10 in two of the last three races.

“Bristol and Michigan were good races for us with strategy, our cars have definitely improved but we’ve got a ways to go,” Bayne said. “For our team we just got to keep focused in on execution and doing the right things so we can take advantage of our cars.

“I feel like we have about 15th-place cars every week and if we nail it on execution we can go do what we did at Bristol and Michigan.”

Bayne, who will start 18th on Saturday night, talked about the handling of his car after a practice session Friday.

“It’s OK, it’s got some balance issues,” Bayne said to The Racing Experts. “Speed seems alright, lap times look good but it doesn’t drive great yet.”

“...Richmond is such a long a race, long runs, tires wear out. It just comes down to how good your car drives and we’ve got some work to do there.” IMAGES Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images SOURCES
