LAS VEGAS—With NASCAR making a stop at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and The Strip sitting about 20 miles away, we took to the garage area to see where drivers are staying at and their gambling preference.

Q. Where are you staying this weekend?

Jeb Burton, No. 26 BK Racing: “We’re staying at South Point Casino.”

Travis Kvapil, No. 44 Team Xtreme: “We’re staying at a new place called SLS.”

Brett Moffitt, No. 34 Front Row Motorsports: “We’re at South Point, so a little bit off The Strip, but all close enough.”

Brennan Poole, No. 42  Ganassi Racing: “I’m staying at New York New York.”

David Starr, No. 44  Tri-Star Motorsports: “We’re in Vegas, I’ve got to stay downtown on The Strip. Actually, my wife is here, and we’re staying at Caesar’s Palace.”

Cole Whitt, No. 35 Front Row Motorsports: “Staying at the motorhome actually, so away from The Strip, but it’s the first time I’ve done that, so a little bit different, a little bit quieter, but it might be a good thing.”

Q. Any gambling plans?

Brennan Poole: “I play a little bit of everything, but I’m probably going to stay away a little bit this weekend.”

David Starr: “I’ll start gambling, but not until [after the Xfinity race].

Cole Whitt: “No, not for me, [I] try to stay away from it.”

Q. Tables or slots?

Jeb Burton: “Tables.”

Brendan Gaughan No. 62 Premium Motorsports: “Well, it depends what mood you’re in. There’s always a mood for all games. Shooting dice is one of my favorite, Pai Gow is when it’s a nice slow day with friends, and there’s always a time to sit at a bar and play a few slot machines, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Brett Moffitt: “I’m trying to save my money, so hopefully none of them, but if anything, blackjack.”

David Starr: “Both. Tables, I like to play blackjack. I take my winnings, then mess around with the slots.”

Cole Whitt: “I guess probably a table.”
