Bowman exited his racecar during Stage 3 of the COTA race Sunday. Myatt Snider filled in for Bowman in the the No. 48 in the closing laps while Bowman received treatment at the track’s infield care center.

In the first three races of the season, Bowman is ranked 36th in points, the lowest of all drivers who have raced in the first three races of the season.

Entering this weekend at Phoenix, Bowman has a 45-point deficit to the Chase cutline.

“Alex has worked very hard over the last several days,” said Jeff Andrews, the president of Hendrick Motorsports, in a news release. “We’re encouraged by the progress he’s making, but we have to prioritize his health above all else.

“It’s obviously frustrating for him because he’s a competitor and wants to be in the race car, especially at his home track. We’ll continue to support Alex and look forward to his return as soon as he’s medically cleared.”

Alfredo does simulator testing for the Chevrolet-powered team.

Alfredo has made 43 career Cup Series starts with two overall Top-10 finishes.
