Berry, Taylor to fill in for Elliott over next six races
Hendrick Motorsports said Tuesday that Chase Elliott will be out for the next six NASCAR Cup Series races.
Josh Berry will fill in for the five oval races while Jordan Taylor will fill in at Circuit of the Americas.
“Josh was impressive this weekend under difficult circumstances, and we look forward to having him drive the oval tracks until Chase is able to return. Jordan is a world-class road racer and has recently been working with our Garage 56 team preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He’ll be able to step in and do a great job at COTA,” team owner Rick Hendrick said in a statement.
Elliott is continuing rehabilitation in Colorado and his recovery is expected to last at least six weeks.
The 2020 NASCAR Cup champion was ruled out of last Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 after suffering a fractured left tibia Friday.
Josh Berry was named to drive the No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet. Berry drove his first 28 laps with the Gen 7 car in practice and qualifying. On Sunday, he finished 29th, 2 laps down, after having a throttle issue.
