Carson Hocevar fined $50K for behavioral incident at Kansas
CONCORD, N.C. — NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar has been fined $50,000 for a behavioral incident during Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway.

After Hocevar spun with six laps to go in the 267-lap Hollywood Casino 400, he revved his engine and spun his tires to rejoin the field as safety workers tried helping him get going again. Hocevar ultimately finished 29th, four laps down.
NASCAR deemed this as an infraction rulebook sections 4.4.B&D – regarding member conduct – prompting the fine.
Section 4.4.B and Section 4.4.D outline how certain actions can result in a fine:
- Under 4.4.B: “Any actions deemed to compromise the safety of an Event or otherwise pose a dangerous risk to the safety of Competitors, Officials, spectators, or others.”
- Under 4.4.D: “Actions by a NASCAR Member that NASCAR finds to be detrimental to stock car racing or NASCAR.”
Earlier this year, Hocevar had to pay $50,000 for insensitive remarks about Mexico City on a livestream earlier this year. The young phenom has shown speed this year in his No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet – even running inside the top 10 before his spin at Kansas – but has drawn ire from drivers.
Hocevar has two top five finishes and eight top-10 finishes this season. He has contended for the win several races, most recently at Bristol last month. He is still looking for his first career win.
