Chris Buescher will miss Sunday’s race at World Wide Technology Raceway after testing positive for COVID-19, RFK Racing announced Wednesday (June 2).
NASCAR Camping Word Truck Series veteran Zane Smith will pilot the No. 17 Ford in place of Buescher.
The team expects Buescher to be back the following week at Sonoma Raceway.
Buescher has competed in every Cup Series event since the 2016 Daytona 500. He will snap a streak of starting 230 consecutive races.
Buescher, who has been driving the No. 17 car since 2020, has earned one pole this season and three top-10 finishes. He’s currently 21st in driver’s points.
