Christian Eckes ties two past champions on wins list
Christian Eckes’ Martinsville victory gave the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver his fourth win of the 2024 season and the ninth of his career Friday night in the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 200.
Eckes is now tied for 21st on the series’ all-time wins list with 2003 series champion Travis Kvapil and 2022 series champion Zane Smith.
“I wasn’t going to lose this race—this truck was too good,” said Eckes, who led 187 of the 200 laps and moved two competitors — Taylor Gray and Ben Rhodes —with his front bumper in the closing laps.
This year marks Eckes tying a career-high in victories, matching his 2023 totals.
Eckes has earned eight of his nine victories racing for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, joining the organization in 2023. His first career win came at Las Vegas in 2021, racing for Mike Curb in a partial-schedule season.
Prior to the start of the season, Eckes was in a seven-way tie for 35th on the wins list with his five career victories.
Now, ahead of Eckes on the wins list include 2004 champion Bobby Hamilton (10 wins), Corey Heim (11), Timothy Peters (11), and Grant Enfinger (12).
Eckes, along with Grant Enfinger, Corey Heim and Ty Majeski, will race for the 2024 championship next Friday, Nov. 8, at Phoenix Raceway.
