Clint Bowyer on pole for Auto Club 400

Clint Bowyer will lead the field to the green flag Sunday, March 1 for the Auto Club 400.

Bowyer won the pole Saturday (Feb. 29) at Auto Club Speedway with a lap time of 40.086 seconds (179.614 mph average speed). It was his first of 2020 and fourth career pole in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Jimmie Johnson will start second alongside Bowyer.

Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick rounded out the fastest five qualifiers.

THROUGH THE FIELD
Kyle Busch — defending series champion and 2019 Auto Club 400 winner — will start 17th

Cole Custer was the highest qualifying rookie in 18th.

2019 Auto Club 400 pole sitter Austin Dillon will start 25th.

Ross Chastain will start 27th in his second race filling in for Ryan Newman.

Martin Truex Jr., the 2018 Fontana-race winner, was the only driver to not turn a lap in qualifying. He will start 38th (last).

The Auto Club 400 will be televised on Sunday (March 1) on FOX (3:30 pm ET).
