Cody Ware to miss Charlotte Road Course race

Rick Ware Racing’s Cody Ware will step aside from the Charlotte Road Course NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend, the driver announced Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Ware suffered an impaction fracture to his right ankle after a crash at Texas Motor Speedway last month.
“Given the extensive footwork required for a road course event, I don’t feel I’ll be able to give 100% effort to my team, sponsors, or to Ford,” Ware said in a statement.
“I appreciate everyone’s continued support and well wishes & I can’t wait to be back in action in Vegas.”
Ware had started in each of the 31 Cup Series points events this year.

J.J. Yeley, who races the No. 15 Ford for Rick Ware Racing in most events, will fill in for Ware in the No. 51.
