Corey LaJoie nets career-best finish at Atlanta

Corey LaJoie earned his best career finish in the NASCAR Cup Series during Sunday’s Ambetter 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
LaJoie finished fourth and placed his No. 7 car as the highest-finishing Chevrolet. His previous career-best finish was fifth at Atlanta last March.
“You could really drive or push if you wanted to, or you could be sideways,” LaJoie said of the race. “Our Chevy drove great. We were able to pick the right lanes at the right time, just a little short.”
Five races into the 2023 season, LaJoie is ranked 14th in drivers’ points. He is 11 points ahead of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs cutline with 21 races left in the regular season.
LaJoie opened the season with a 16th-place finish in the Daytona 500, then finished 14th at Fontana, 20th at Las Vegas and 26th at Phoenix.
“Fourth-place is a solid day for the No. 7 Celsius Chevy team,” LaJoie said of Atlanta.
2023 is LaJoie’s third season with Spire Motorsports. In 205 Cup starts, LaJoie has 2 Top-5 finishes, 6 Top-10 finishes and 57 laps led.
