Hamlin picked up win No. 2 of the 2025 season and the 56th of his career, breaking a tie with 1989 series champion Rusty Wallace on the series’ wins list.

Hamlin led twice for 10 laps, taking the lead via a late-race pitstop ahead of NASCAR Overtime, outdueling Tyler Reddick for the win.

“our pit crew won it,” Hamlin said. “It comes down to these crunch time situations. I had to do my job on pit road executing.”

Additionally, winning at Darlington marked the first time in over 12 years Hamlin won back-to-back Cup Series races and the third time in his career of such an occurrence (2010 Pocono and Michigan; 2012 Bristol and Atlanta).

“We didn’t have the best car today,” Hamlin said. “We had a decent car, but this is a great team victory. I love getting this victory for the guys behind me.”

Hamlin is ranked third among active Cup Series drivers in all-time points wins, behind Kyle Busch (63, ranked ninth all-time) and Jimmie Johnson (83, tied for sixth all-time).

Hamlin has said he wants to be Top-10 on the all-time wins list before he is done driving. He would need at least 61 wins.

“I want to get it as soon as possible ’cause you never know when you don’t race anymore,” Hamlin said. “I think these wins early in the season certainly are beneficial to getting some pressure off for Playoff points. Certainly makes me feel good to keep piling on those wins.”
