Denny Hamlin to lead Cup field to green at Michigan
BROOKLYN, Mich. — Mother Nature and Denny Hamlin won out with NASCAR Cup Series qualifying getting rained out Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
Hamlin will lead Tyler Reddick to the green flag Sunday in the Firekeepers Casino 400. Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Ryan Blaney, William Byron and Austin Dillon will round out the top-10 starters.
Rain shortened practice Saturday after about 15 minutes. Ross Chastain, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson and William Byron ran fastest. They were the only drivers who ran a lap time in the 37.4-second range.
Truex had the fastest 10-lap average, averaging 191.008 MPH.
