Family matter rules Jimmie Johnson out of Chicago race
Jimmie Johnson will not race at the Chicago Street Course due to a “family matter,” Legacy Motor Club said Tuesday.
LMC entered a No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet into this Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race for Johnson at Chicago. It was going to be his fourth start of the season.
Local news reports indicate authorities found Johnson’s mother-in-law and father-in-law and the couple’s grandson dead in a possible murder-suicide. Further details are limited.
The organization asked for the public to respect Johnson’s privacy and that no further statements will be made.
