KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Gene Haas announced Thursday that he will continue fielding entries in the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series in 2025.

Haas is closing his existing team, Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of 2024. However, he will maintain his presence in NASCAR on a smaller scale, according to a news release issued Thursday.

“My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement,” Haas said. “Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.”

Haas will operate his team out of the existing SHR facility in Kannapolis. There is no word on the drivers and team partners yet.

“Maintaining my presence in Cup allows Haas Automation to compete at NASCAR’s highest level, which is important to our customers and distributors. The Xfinity Series program provides a full weekend experience for our guests, and it delivers added depth and scale to our overall operation,” he added.

Joe Custer, father of Xfinity Series driver Cole Custer, will serve as president of the Haas Factory Team.

Custer races the No. 00 Ford Mustang for SHR in the Xfinity Series currently. Teammate Riley Herbst drives the No. 98 SHR entry.
