Heim gambles on tires for Darlington Truck Series win
DARLINGTON, S.C. — Corey Heim returns to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and wins the Click It Don’t Risk It 200 at Darlington.
The victory marked his 24th career Truck Series win and earned him a $50,000 bonus by winning in the opening race of the Craftsman Triple Truck Challenge.

The fight for the win traded hands multiple times late in the race but it was Corey Heim who reigned supreme.
Heim led 28 total laps and tied Kyle Busch for the most consecutive Truck Series races with a lap led. (28 races)
His Tricon Garage No. 5 had top-five speed all night but failed to contend for the lead from the first stage onwards.
He and his crew took a gamble under the penultimate caution and gave up fourth with four to go, opting for newer tires.
Mired in 14th, they needed another caution to truly challenge Ross Chastain and Kaden Honeycutt for the win. His wish was answered.
On the first overtime restart, he skillfully avoided a stack-up triggered when Tyler Ankrum’s right-front tire fell flat heading into turn one.
From there, Heim lined up inside the top ten and surged to second as the field took the white flag.
With his superior grip, he dove to the inside of Chastain in the final corner and cleared him off the exit to the checkered flag.
The Others
Ross Chastain was in the fight all night and came within a corner of the win, ultimately finishing second after leading 35 laps.
Christian Eckes had a strong race and won the first stage for his second stage win of the season. He parlayed that to come home fourth.
Kaden Honeycutt had the dominant truck for much of the event, earning his first career pole and a stage two victory, but had to settle for fourth despite a points-heavy night.
Carson Hocevar fought back from consecutive slow pit stops to take the lead with 20 to go and looked to run away with the win.
Then sparks were seen under the rear of his No. 77 truck which led to a cut right-front tire. He hit the outside wall and spun with four to go then limped around to the finish in 22nd.
Massive Point Implications
The race barely settled in before the first caution flew on lap three, when contact between Ben Rhodes and Tyler Ankrum sent Rhodes hard into the outside wall and out of the race.
Later, Connor Jones clipped the apron, got loose beneath the Dawson Sutton and slammed the wall off Turn 2. He cut a tire a lap later to bring out a caution on lap. Jones rallied from his damage to finish 16th.
With 27 laps to go, Layne Riggs committed to the high line entering Turn 3 while Ty Majeski did not.
Both drivers slapped the wall but Majeski, who had spent most of the race running third, took the worst of it. He collected Andres Perez De Lara in the process and both retired from the race.
