History of weather delays at Auto Club Speedway
FONTANA, CALI. — “Sunny Southern California” is not always accurate when NASCAR comes to Auto Club Speedway.
The Feb. 25 Production Alliance Group 300 was the second ACS NASCAR Xfinity Series race to be postponed from its scheduled date.
The February 2008 Xfinity race was moved from Saturday night to Monday afternoon due to rain. At ACS that weekend, neither the Sunday Cup or the Friday night Truck race ran to completion when it was supposed to.
That Truck race was completed Saturday afternoon before the rains came.
The Cup race started Sunday afternoon, then was slowed for rain twice until it was moved to Monday afternoon when the race finished under clear skies.
2008 was in the midst of a rough patch of weather for ACS.
The February Cup race was postponed in 2008 and delayed in 2009 and 2010. Even after it was moved to March for 2011-19, the 2012 race was shortened to 129 laps.
The NASCAR Cup Series Pala Casino 400 is still set to kick off just after 3:30 p.m. ET, Feb. 26, from Auto Club Speedway. Catch it on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
